This quick 90mins demo is designed to teach you to make a simple headdresses and hair adornments using wire beads and wire. Demonstration tutor, Denise Innes-Spencer, is an expert in making wired headdresses, having created pieces for top bridalwear designers Suzane Neville and Jayne Boulton and Libertys of London.

Denise shares her unique techniques and ways of using wire and beads, explaining what the wires are used for, how to use them in different constructions and how to adorn them.

Author of 'Tiara Headdresses', founder and creative director of 'The British School of Millinery' Denise is well equipped to take you through the intricate ways of making delicate beautiful designs with this versatile fabric.

This course is suitable for all abilities.

  • COURSE CONTENT

    Students will learn:​ 

    • how shapes of tiaras and crowns have changed over time
    • how to use different metals to make tiaras and crowns
    • which tools and equipment to use and who are the best suppliers to use
    • how to finish the item correctly on the front and back  
  • COURSE DELIVERY METHODS

    This class will be run online using Zoom.

    Class sizes are small to ensure you receive the personal support you need. For Zoom classes no more than 8 students.

    We will run the session using two webcams - one showing the tutor and the other focused on the tutor's hands to give a close-up view of the techniques being used. Step by step notes will be sent to students before the course to help them prepare.

    Students are not allowed to video record the session.

     

  • RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

    By booking a place on this course, you agree to the following rules of engagement:

    • It is each student's responsibility to ensure that they have access to Zoom before the class/demo starts.
    • Students are responsible for ensuring that their equipment is functioning properly (including audio, video and microphone). Speed test information will be given to all students when they have booked. 
    • Students are responsible for ensuring that they have a stable internet connection.
    • All course content remains the intellectual property of The British School of Millinery. Students do not have permission to share any information from the course with any other person either online or offline. The reproduction of printed or verbal information is strictly prohibited.
    • Students do not have permission to video record this class/demo. Participants have not signed a data protection agreement and have not given permission for the class to be recorded.​ To do so would be a breach of data protection laws. You have been warned.
    • Any personal information shared between the students and the tutor during the class/demo must considered confidential and not shared without the consent of the relevant individual.
    • Should The British School of Millinery's internet connection become significantly unstable during the course, it will be rescheduled.
    • All cameras students use must be switched on for the entire class/demo. Failure to do this:  The British School of Millinery will cut off the feed to the class/demo due to failure to observe the health and safety details in the class/demo. So make sure your camera is on and working.
