The style of the season is the halo crown with a bow, featured on all of the summers race meetings. Denise Innes-Spencer is the current skills writer for ‘The Hat Magazine’ has devised a course with different ways of making a halo bow.

In this online class you will learn how to make 3 styles of bows for headbands and back head coifs (they can also be used on other hats). Where the bows can be placed on the bands and coifs. All of the skills learnt will have detailed notes and lots of samples to look at, a truly not to be missed class.

  • COURSE CONTENT

    In this class you will be shown:

    · How to construct your own bow pattern using the width measurements required for headband.

    · How to style the bow differently by shaping the pattern.

    · How to cut your bow and the interfacings that will be used inside for fabrics chosen.

    · How to construct the bows using tips and tricks for seams and corners making your bows stand out to look crisp and elegant.

    · Where to place the bows on the headbands, different levels on the headbands or bases for different styles.

    · You will be shown different shapes of bows that suit different headbands and halo crowns.

     

    Denise is a skilled milliner and millinery teacher and has a detailed portfolio of samples to show you. You are also sent full details of how to construct the bows in a step-by-step method. You are given a detailed shopping list for each bow.

  • COURSE DELIVERY

    This course will be run online using Zoom.

    Class sizes are small to ensure you receive the personal support you need. This course will have no more than seven students.

    We will run the session using two webcams - one showing the tutor and the other focused on the tutor's hands to give a close-up view of the techniques being used. Step by step notes will be sent to students before the course to help them prepare any questions.

    Students are not allowed to video record the session.

    By booking a place on this course, you agree to the following rules of engagement:

    • It is each student's responsibility to ensure that they have access to Zoom before the course starts.
    • Students are responsible for ensuring that their equipment is functioning properly (including audio, video and microphone). A blacked out screen will be blocked from the class.
    • Students are responsible for ensuring that they have a stable internet connection. 
    • All course content remains the intellectual property of The British School of Millinery. Students do not have permission to share any information from the course with any other person either online or offline, verbally or written. All the written content is copyrighted to Denise Innes-Spencer @The British School of Millinery. 
    • Students do not have permission to video record this course. Participants have not signed a data protection agreement and have not given permission for the class to be recorded.​ To do so would be a breach of data protection laws.
    • Any personal information shared between the students and the tutor during the course must considered confidential and not shared without the consent of the relevant individual.
    • Should The British School of Millinery's internet connection become significantly unstable during the class, this class will be rescheduled.
    • All students must be visable to the teacher for the entire length of the class, a blacked out screen will be blocked from the class. For insurence purposes your camera must be on at all times as blacked out screens can invalidate insurence cover.
