This 6 hour course is designed to teach you to make headdresses and hair adornments using wire beads and knitted wire. Course tutor, Denise Innes-Spencer, is an expert in making wired headdresses, having created pieces for top bridalwear designers Suzane Neville and Jayne Boulton and Libertys of London.
Denise shares her unique techniques and ways of using wire and beads, explaining what the wires are used for, how to use them in different constructions and how to adorn them.
Author of 'Tiara Headdresses', founder and creative director of 'The British School of Millinery' Denise is well equipped to take you through the intricate ways of making delicate beautiful designs with this versatile fabric.
This course is suitable for all abilities.
COURSE CONTENT
Students will learn:
- how shapes of tiaras and crowns have changed over time
- how to use different metals to make tiaras and crowns
- which tools to use
- which equipment to use
- who are the best suppliers to use
- new types and styles of metal applications
- how to make cutting edge designs
- how to finish the item correctly on front and back
COURSE DELIVERY METHODS
A face to face course held in Denise's studio in the suburbs of Liverpool.
Class sizes are small to ensure you receive the personal support you need. This course will have no more than four students.
Step by step notes will be provieded to students before the course to help them prepare.
Students are not allowed to video record the session.

- Students will be required to bring a packed lunch to the class.
- All course content remains the intellectual property of The British School of Millinery or any of the visiting teachers, lecturing at the school. Students do not have permission to share any information from the courses with any other person in person, online or offline. To do so would be in breach of copyright and interlectual property laws. Many of the classes have already been either published or protected by these laws.
- Students do not have permission to video record this course. Any fellow class participants have not signed a data protection agreement and have not given you permission for them class to be recorded in the class. To do so would be a breach of data protection laws.
