Course tutor, Denise Innes-Spencer is an experienced qualified teacher and a regular staff writer for ‘The Hat Magazine’. She is creative director and founder of The British School of Millinery and recently co-founded of The British Millinery Association.
This back-of-the-head bandeau is very popular with the Royals. You can achieve this style by using Crinoline and covering it with a lightweight fabric that can look as elegant as the Royals.
In this demonstration, you can learn how to make this shape in see-through crinoline.
A stunning look, with a crinoline width that is usually used to trim and make bows.
In this 3-hour demonstration, Denise will guide you through techniques for selecting the right equipment, blocking the crinoline, and covering it with a lightweight fabric.
This demonstration is for milliners who have an understanding of millinery terms. Not suitable for beginners.
Please Note: This class is not recorded, and there will be no recording to pass on to latecomers or absentees. Recording this class is strictly prohibited due to the Data Protection Act 2018.
COURSE CONTENT
In this 3-hour demonstration, Denise will guide you through techniques for selecting the right equipment, blocking the crinoline, and covering it with a lightweight fabric.In this demonstration, you will observe how to:
- Choose the best tools to use
- Use the fabric when blocking
- Details for sizing
- Join the seams
- Wiring
- Finish the edges
- Trimming ideas for this style of hat and keeping it safely on the head
As with all British School of Millinery classes, you will receive detailed notes. Unfortunately, this class is not recorded and cannot be recorded by students due to strict Data protection laws..
PLEASE NOTE: Details on how to purchase supplies, tools and where to get them from will be given when booking. Full notes/patterns (if required) will be e-mailed once you have booked on the course.
COURSE DELIVERY METHODS
This course will be run online using Zoom.
We will run the session using two webcams - one showing the tutor and the other focused on the tutor's hands to give a close-up view of the techniques being used. Step-by-step notes will be sent to students before the course to help them prepare.
Students are not allowed to record the session due to data protection rules. Please see rules of engagement for details.

This can cause the loss of learning and poor quality of the pictures.
